Bhagat Singh

1907 - 1931

One of the most inspirational icons of the Indian freedom struggle and a revolutionary freedom fighter, Bhagat Singh was born on September 28, 1907 in Punjab.

Born into a Sikh family with a proud legacy of revolutionary activities against the British rule, Bhagat Singh cultivated his revolutionary zeal from a tender age.

The notorious Jalianwala Bagh Massacre in 1919 left an indelible scar on the mind of Bhagat Singh and soon he took up the membership of the youth organization Naujawan Bharat Sabha. Apart from mingling with noted revolutionaries such as Chandrasekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh worked relentlessly to garner opposition against the British.

Shivaji Maharaj

Shivaji Maharaj (1630 - 1680)

He inspired and united the masses to fight the tyranny of unjust rulers, by inculcating a sense of pride and nationality in them. Shivaji Maharaj successfully built, led and marshalled his forces to cope and overcome several major enemy invasions of his territories.

Guru Gobind Singh

Guru Gobind Singh Ji (1666 -1708) was the Tenth of the Eleven Sikh Gurus. Born in Patna, Bihar in India, he was also a Warrior, Poet and Philosopher.

His life was full of courage, valour, wisdom, sacrifice and devotion. He fought for the helpless and against injustice of the people of his time. The Divine brilliance shining through him, he was a lamp of wisdom who lit thousands of ignorant hearts and guided them to live a virtuous life.

The Rani Of Jhansi / Rani Lakshmi bai

Born: November 19, 1835, Varanasi

Birth Name: Manikarnika

Lost her mother at a tender age of four.

Raised by her father ,educated at home,she took formal training in martial arts which included archery, horsemanship, self-defence,fencing.

Married to Gangadhar Rao, the Raja of Jhansi, at the age of 14,she was given the name 'Laxmibai'.In 1851, she gave birth to a son. Sadly, the child did not survive more than four months.In 1853, Gangadhar Rao fell sick and became very weak. So, the couple adopted a child.On 21st November 1853, Maharaja Gangadhar Rao died. Rani Laxmibai was just 18 at that time.

Madan Lal Dhingra

Madan Lal Dhingra was an Indian revolutionary freedom fighter. While studying in England, he assassinated Sir William Hutt Curzon Wyllie, a British official, hailed as one of the first acts of revolution.

Gets thrown out of College

In 1904 he lead a student protest against Principal's order to have college blazer made out of Imported Cloth from England.He was thrown out of college.

He deeply studied the literature concerning the cause of Indian Poverty and famines and as solution to these problems Swaraj and Swadeshi became key issues.
